Fronted by singer and guitarist Michael Poulsen, the band (Rob Caggiano on lead guitar,  Anders Kjølholm on bass, and Jon Larsen on drums) delivered a raucous set in which they profusely thanked the Atlanta-area audience for their hospitality and visible enthusiasm at the band’s first appearance in the area.

The setlist took from their five albums since their first release in 2005, including a hard-rock tribute to Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire,” with Poulsen on electric acoustic and deeper-voiced Southern accent, as a preamble to their own Cash-inspired “Sad Man’s Tongue.” Although a lot harder than Cash would have done it – Volbeat is a metal band, after all – his distinctive sound is definitely in there.
