Colorado’s own OneRepublic played at Aaron’s Ampitheater (aka Lakewood) in Atlanta for their “Native Summer” tour on August 19.
Opening behind a scrim in giant shadow-relief with “Light It Up,” a mostly beautiful night, weather-wise, made for perfect listening conditions for the five-piece band founded in 2002 by front man Ryan Tedder and lead guitarist Zach Filkins. Touring in support of their most recent release Native, the band played hit list of well-known songs over a dazzling light show that complemented “All The Right Moves,” “Apologize,” “Counting Stars,” “Secrets” (with some beautiful cello accompaniment), and even a pretty decent cover of “What A Wonderful World.”
Appearing with them were special guests, the always effervescent pop-piano-pipes Christina Perri and solo singer-songwriter Jamie Scott.
For more tour dates, see http://onerepublic.com/events. Tonight they’re in Houston, tomorrow in Austin, and ending this US leg on September 1 at maybe the most spectacularly beautiful outdoor venue in the country, Red Rocks.
