NIN|JA 2009 Wave Goodbye (v.2)

This is a second entry for images of Nine Inch Nails, Jane’s Addiction, and Street Sweeper Social Club - who have now completed the first leg of their North America (May 8 through June 13).  They will be doing another short run in New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles after returning from the Europe/Asia leg.

My first NIN|JA set was getting unwieldy, so I’m starting another. Again, as with the previous, you can also view the entire set as a large-image slideshow or as a smaller slideshow by going down to the thumbnails at the bottom of this page and clicking on one. Personally I think they look best when viewing on this page itself, but there are usually a few on Flickr that I don’t post here for various reasons. The slideshows do have all images available immediately after they are uploaded.

Update 10/2/09: after today’s upload, I think I’ll have to start another post for any future NIN|JA shots, which I do still have.

Trent Reznor at Phoenix.  God Creates Man, Man Creates Music, Music Creates God.

Dave Navarro & Perry Farrell at Mansfield. I think this is the show when Dave blew me a kiss from stage and said “Take a good picture!” Not hard with any of Jane’s; they’re all very photogenic.

Robin at Mansfield. Again I cannot get over what magnificent lighting this tour had. If only all shows were like this.

Justin Meldal-Johnsen & Robin Finck. I guess something funny was going on.

Robin playing his Schecter acoustic, which he would destroy a couple of shows later when there was some problem with it that annoyed him so much he just couldn’t take it anymore. He smashed it to bits onstage and walked off during, I believe, The Becoming. Not his best night ever, he said, but I wish I had seen it anyway.

Robin at Clarkston. He always comes out really well in B&W.

   You are an amazing photographer. I always enjoy seeing your pics on nin.com. I think Trent should be paying you. Not that I have anything against Rob, but your photos just blow me away.

   @KP: my word, thank you so much. Ha, I think he should be paying me too! But alas that has little chance of happening. Silly man. [:-D]

   (I love Rob’s work but it is definitely different from mine. He has another perspective, being employed by NIN and being friends with Trent for so long, so what he sees is not the same as what I do.)

   Ha, yes hurry up and pay those bills! [:-D] (kidding, hope everything is OK with you)

   I’m on a bit of a B&W/monotone/duotone kick lately, even when they don’t have to be. (Sometimes the coloring or lighting is such that it really only works to turn an image B&W, but recently I’ve been doing it even when they work well in color.) Anyway thank you again very much!
