Technical notes:

It was really, really dark in there. The band said I could use flash for part of the time, which I did for quite a few pictures, and the ones I didn’t use it on are… incredibly dark. I actually didn’t mean to take as many with the flash as I did but at one point I thought I had turned it off and apparently hadn’t. So I got more than I intended with the flash going (Nikon SB-800 on camera but at 1/32 power and pointing upward) and still didn’t get a huge number of usable shots. I was at ISO 3200 without it and they still came out very dark. For lenses, I was really close and the stage was either just a platform or floor level, so obviously did not need any kind of long zoom. I don’t think I used anything except the Tokina 11-16 and the Nikon 17-55 and 24-70, just to mix it up a little. Could have gotten away with just the 17-55. Unfortunately the way things were set up I couldn’t really get in front of Liela directly so most of the shots are from the hard right or left. I hope to hit them again when they play a larger venue as Liela is spectacular to watch live: talk about non-boring! Everyone who thinks they can get away with just standing there close to the mic ought to take a lesson from her.
